Anyway

Good Morning,

Sometime back we had an intern at work who was from South Africa. The
difference in our cultures made for some very interesting and
enlightening conversations. One such conversation was her observation
on how we here in America seem to only love those things that are
most like us, or we tend to only pursue the sure thing. Although this
was a generality, there seemed to be a small grain of truth in her
observations. We do tend to play it safe and we do seem to localize
our love and efforts to our own inner circles. There are time times
though when we must go outside these boundaries and do something
extraordinary, we must push ahead no matter how uncomfortable the
task and do it anyway. . .

People can be unreasonable, illogical and self centered. Love them
anyway.

If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives.
Do good anyway.

If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies.
Succeed anyway.

The kindness you show today will be forgotten tomorrow. Be kind anyway.

Honesty and frankness will make you vulnerable. Be honest and frank
anyway.

The biggest person with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the
smallest person with the smallest mind. Think big anyway.

What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight. Build anyway.

People really need help, but may attach you if you help them. Help
people anyway.

Give the world the best you’ve got, and you might get kicked in the
teeth.

Give the world the best you’ve got anyway.

Have a wonderful day and keep this in mind: It is not because things
are difficult that we do not dare; it is because we do not dare that
they are difficult.

Peace and Love, Jim

Our Time

Good Morning,

As many of you may know Kelly and I are taking our what vacation we have to spend with our two 12 year old nephews. We do not mind because in reality there is so much to share with them that it is a learning experience for all. I remember a time when Kelly would help everyone to the point of having no time for herself. I remeber everyone including myself telling her to quit doing so much and enjoy a moment for herself. I must say now that I believe Kelly had it right. Spending all ones time keeping oneself content is quite a bit of work with very little payoff. Many people spend their lifetime trying to keep themselves happy, comfortable and content and never seem to find lasting joy.
I too have spent much of my life trying to keep myself pleased with very little success, sure you can make yourself happy for a little moments, but there is nothing lasting. I can honestly say that the happiest days of my recent life have been in doing for others. Seeing the smile on a friends face when you bring them flowers, watching a child glow with excitiement as you show them something new, those moments last much longer than anything I can do for “me.”
So as I sit this morning watching two sleepy headed boys wake up, I feel strangely in touch with the world. I have come to realize in this life that it is not my time or their time, but our time and that is the best time of all.
Have a wonderful day and encorage someone to come out of the circle of time and into the circle of love.
Peace and Love, Jim
