Writing the book

We often think of life as something we possess. But possessions can be held, and more importantly bought and sold. Our life technically does not fall into those descriptions and is more akin to a library book which has been checked out, explored with eager anticipation, enjoyed and returned. We can also think of life as one little window into a vibrant, kaleidoscopic event that we may not ever fully grasp yet enjoy the view we have as the colors and shapes shift before us.

Some of us may embrace this life with a spirit of adventure, others will approach it with quiet reserve and some will sleep through the whole show covered with metaphorical coats and blankets. The important and amazing thing we can all remember about life is that it is not a one size fits all experience and each of us has been given the amazing ability to live and see in our own unique ways. We each have our own “zest” for living and it’s important that we live out our life with all the zest and appreciation we can find – for a life unappreciated is a life without motion, without growth, without meaning.

Enjoying the book of life requires us to appreciate the plot twists, character changes and internal difficulties that make any story a good one.  We should never accept or believe that a good life is a easy life. It is always work to live life with enthusiasm, but this doesn’t mean it has to be a chore.  Understanding the ever changing plot line is the key.  It may seem like a mystery at times, a comedy at others, but in the end it can always be an amazing story because of the quality of character development, insights gained and skills honed with each chapter written!
