What is success in life?

Who are the truly successful?

There are famous and powerful people who become pitiful figures in their mature days. There are people who die alone, feeling empty and desolate inside.  So again – Just what is success?

Many writers and thinkers both before and after The Buddha’s time shared some common threads and perspectives. The English thinker Walter Pater (1839–94) wrote: “To burn always with this hard, gemlike flame, to maintain this ecstasy, is success in life.” The common thread is a person who lives life fully, glowing with life’s energy, and not being brought down to the depths of despair or the heights of joy, but riding each and all as they come and appreciating the ride.
