Change Your State. . .

Change your attitude by changing your state. This is a popular personal development technique for a good reason, and it can take all sorts of different forms.

For example, if you’ve been indoors a lot, step out of your house and spend the whole day outside. If you’re feeling despondent, get your body moving by dancing or exercising. If you’re hearing the critical voices of others (or yourself), drown it out by putting on your most optimistic music and singing along. In addition, reach out to people who make you feel good and who know your true self. Sometimes, just talking to them will be enough to shake you out of your funk.

Remember, happiness, true happiness, is an inner quality. It is a state of mind. If your mind is at peace, you are happy. If your mind is at peace, but you have nothing else, you can be happy. If you have everything the world can give – pleasure, possessions, power – but lack peace of mind, you can never be happy.

Peace and Love, Jim
