Distinctions. . .

Ultimately, if a distinction is to be made between people it should not be based on the color of their skin or the garments they wear  but the quality of the mind.

The Buddha said: `Even though being finely raised and adorned, if one is peaceful, restrained, committed to the proper life and harmless towards all beings, they are a true benefit, a true priest, a true monk’.

Rohitassa once told the Buddha that he had tried to find “nirvana”‘, by searching the world, but never succeeded. The Buddha told him the reason for this was because the nirvana of the world’ is not to be found by going anywhere but by looking within. You can look within whether you live in a house or a monastery or whether you wear blue jeans or a yellow robe.

The greatest of all human delusions is that there is a tangible goal, an end point and not just direction towards an ideal aim. The idea that a goal can be attained perpetually frustrates human beings, who are disappointed at never getting there, never being able to stop. So maybe the goal should be to just accept and grow with what we have where we are.
