While in college I took world religion and philosphy under the Honorable Dr. Robert Day. During our dialogue, Dr. Day at one point told me that his motto was Laboremus and instructed me in his usual fashion to find my answer and look it up. Laboremus is Latin for “Let’s get to work!” Buddhism focuses on the present with a subtle nod to the future; it is infused with the spirit, “Let’s get started!” We practice for the sake of the present and better futures. It is important not to become trapped in the past; we have to put it behind us. The Buddhism of true cause is always based on the present moment; it is always “from this moment on.”
