Meaning. . .

Many people talk about finding meaning in their lives, and unfortunately many people don’t know exactly how to define that meaning.

Before everything else, let’s observe for a moment why finding your purpose, finding your true meaning of life can be so difficult. In a recent poll people of various ages and walks of life were asked what bring them joy? The top answer might surprise you – their work.

Work bring happiness? Well out of context that may sound unusual but the number two answer in the poll may offer an explanation – The second highest rayed answer in the poll on what makes us happy was – family. I personally thing the connection between providing for those you love and actual time with those people are intertwined. Is that true meaning?

What happens in life is the following: we’ll convince ourselves that we need to pursue a job, a position, created by other people. We persuade our minds that we need to become fomenting, never thinking about if this role will fit our personality. Usually, we aim toward that direction for financial reasons (like supporting a family). I don’t know if you noticed, but this type of thinking leads to a lot of unhappy lives.

Don’t search for meaning, search for a way of living.

Each of us is uniquely designed. We are each full of potential. So, knowing who you are is a key factor in achieving success and satisfaction. But it’s not enough, once you know who you are, you should look towards where you should focus your efforts. The purpose of your life, and your intended outcomes. This is where most of us fail. We fail to choose the right path. To be more precise, we fail to make our own path. If you postpone the choosing, this choice will be made for you no matter if you like it or not. That’s why there are so many older people who regret what they didn’t do, not what they did do.

Look for a way of life you’ll adore, and start pursuing it today. Today, because tomorrow is never guaranteed.

Peace and Love, Jim
