More Than Enough. . .
It can be easy for us to feel as though we don’t have enough. Enough time, money, friends…the list goes on.
With the limited number of resources available on earth, it can feel like we should all switch to a scarcity mindset when what we really need is the abundance mindset. It’s kind of a paradox, but if we do have the abundance mindset and realize we need to share what we have and not hoard it, we can begin to realize that what we do has an impact on more than just the immediate surroundings that we live in.
Mindfulness can be one of the tools we use to help us switch our mindset from one of scarcity to one of abundance. The remedy for that feeling of scarcity is to elevate the importance of abundance, but I think abundance is a matter of moment-to-moment definition for most of us. Mindfulness helps us open space in our consciousness and allows us to rest with a sense of abundance that isn’t dependent upon the extra money in the checking account or the best date with our significant other, so we can relate to the world in a less aggressive, more open way.
A solid mindfulness practice ( presence, meditation etc), allows us to sit with ourselves in a gentle, non-judgmental, friendly frame of mind. We can put away our concepts for a moment and look beyond them. We don’t need ideas. Our friendliness, gentleness, and warmth can be deepened just by spending time with ourselves, which is kind of what it’s all about. When we consider how we personally would like to be treated and thought of we begin seeing the aggregate and materials for which to pave our own path. We need to feel both open and grateful if we are to truly shift gears and minds.
I believe that in order to truly feel abundant, a list of things you are grateful for is a great start. If you constantly have thoughts of scarcity, fear and lack, what do you think you’re going to experience, embody and receive? However, if you generate feelings and visualizations devoted to feeling abundant, present, in touch, and full of love, you’ll attract those exact feelings and situations to you – and in abundance at that! Like many things in this life, abundance, equanimity and understanding require a shift. The second you start to shift your mindset and channel your thoughts towards believing that you deserve and are worthy of having abundance and wealth, you’ll begin to create the divine energy source that has been at slumber this entire time.
Peace and Love, Jim
