While everything around us is ever changing, ever dying, there is underlying that change, a living power that is changeless, that holds all together, that creates, dissolves and recreates… In the midst of death, life persists, in the midst of untruth, truth persists, in the midst of darkness, light persists. Persistence works within the framework of hope. It is a state of mind, not of the world. Hope, in this deep and powerful sense, is not the same as joy that things are going well, or willingness to invest in enterprises that are obviously heading for success, but rather an ability to work for something because it is good, because it is achievable and once arrived at all other paths dissolve into the beauty of our informed persistence.
