The start of each day should be a ritual for the body, mind and spirit.
We should give ourselves the gift of a wake up routine. Nothing fancy are elaborate, just a simple practice. Why? Without a simple routine its quite easy for the rhythm of our lives to be thrown off kilter, just as a machine that isn’t oiled will rust.
View the first few minutes out of bed like starting an automobile’s engine every day and driving in the direction of happiness and truth. Keep it simple – my own routine is to touch my feet to the floor physically and in my mind with the concept of connecting to earth from slumber. I just embrace that for a few seconds as the senses come to life, a few breaths later and I choose one word to frame the energy of the day (this simple exercise awakens the mind). I rise and physically start the morning.
By doing so day after day, you will gradually set your day into motion with a greater sense of place and purpose. That state is the state of the Buddha.
Peace and Love, Jim
