Wise Man. . .

A story is told about an American tourist’s visit to a 19th century wise man.

Astonished to see that the wise mans home was only a simple room filled with books, plus a table and a bench, the tourist asked, “Oh great wise one, where is your furniture?”

“Where is yours?” replied the wise man.

“Mine?” asked the puzzled American. “But I’m a visitor here. I’m only passing through.”

“So am I,” said the wise man.

Many give the impression that they’re here on planet earth forever. How aware are you of your transience? What is the unnecessary “furniture” that you are lugging around wherever you go? Is there anything concrete you can do to enjoy a simpler lifestyle and a more meaningful life? Ponder this for its the key to so many things, so many puzzles and the light that is often obscured by desire.

Peace and Love, Jim
