There is one constant in our life that challenges us to rise to the occasion, learn something in the process and come out better because we face it (with the right mindset) and its name is change. . .
Change requires conscious and courageous action.
Staying in action, in a conscious and courageous way, is an essential aspect of moving through change effectively. We sometimes get stuck in fear, perfectionism, or both. When we stop taking action, it’s easy for the critical voice in our head to take over and convince us that we can’t do it, everything is messed up, it won’t work out, etc. If we let that voice have to much power (it has its place), we give away our power. By staying in action and doing so in a mindful and bold way (not simply rushing around to avoid our feelings or just doing things in our comfort zones), we remind ourselves that we have the power to deal with whatever change we’re facing. As the late Susan Jeffers taught us all through her bestselling book, one of the best things we can do in life is “feel the fear, and do it anyway.”
As the saying goes, “the only constant in life is change.” It seems that now more than ever, so many of us are dealing with change in our lives personally, professionally, and all around us. If we’re willing to address these changes with a sense of authenticity, compassion, and courage – remembering that it’s not about being perfect, it’s about being real – we give ourselves a chance to not only deal with change effectively, but to embrace it in a way that allows us to grow, develop, and become more of who we truly are.
What changes are you currently facing? How are you embracing them (or not)? What support do you need? Share your thoughts, insights, comments, questions, or advice here on my blog in the “leave a reply” section below!
I love how your insights you share with us, provide me with compassionate encouragement when I’m “in the weeds”, or as today, more of a confirmation I’m in-tune, grounded and moving forward in a healthy manner.
Fear has it’s place. I’m learning to peel is tight grip off my life’s steering wheel!

Thank you Lisa, we all need a little inspiration and a little insight each day!

Years ago when I first began subscribing to your site, I was in the process of undergoing a severe life-change. Coming out of an abusive marriage, lifting the veil of realization in line with the same, divorce, bankruptcy following divorce, packing up house (with two children), moving cities, undergoing crisis therapy and everything that comes to light in the process of these events, and I found such peace from your sharings. (The focus and determination it must have taken to launch such a website on your own was not lost on me!) Although I am no longer going through these changes, while doing so I found that the only way to conquer what was in front of me while battling what was within was to maintain my sense of gratitude: for life, for the little things that make up such a grand piece of my existence, for the strong sense of self I was realizing I had in order to accomplish such a challenging feat all at once in my life! Each night I would emit three things I was grateful for for each specific day; I would meditate the next morning and continued this practice (and now ritual) each and every day (still do, four years later).
Doing this not only gave me a sense of personal and inner peace, but it helped me to realize that not even through our greatest struggles are we “without”. In the process you also realize that you are one with all that is around us if we only take a moment to See. It helped me to realize that I can accomplish anything and power through all change in my life with just a sense of Presence in each moment.
Thank you for your sharings! I’m grateful that in 2017 we will see more.
Blessed be,
– j.
